Dear Diary,
– So how should one live then? What should one do? – some fifteen years ago in a forum of those searching for life’s meaning, one person feeling like a student asked another feeling like a teacher. – Simply. Do what there is to do, and as well as you can possibly do it! – replied the latter.
This brief dialogue between two people, which I observed from the side, was so well-liked that it unconsciously became life’s motto. You have four tasks, you grab the one that at the given moment makes the most sense or has the most appeal, and you do it to the maximum of your ability.
– Well done, – I often hear from the side, – you did it very well! I’m surprised. What, did I have some other choice? And not even because I very much want to achieve something, get something or ingratiate myself with someone in the outside world. Because a well-performed work doesn’t leave regret in the heart the way a half-hearted and careless job does. And the absence of regret makes that closer, inner world brighter, cozier and more pleasant to inhabit.
As I understood while walking to the college – street sweepers don’t have such a motto :-)
