On Wholeness

On the moment when you realize that everything you have came not from effort, but from the moment that embraces you.

On Wholeness

Dear Diary,

At those moments when, with the mind stilled, the body exhales with relief from the relentless fidgeting of the ego and for a shorter or longer moment the imaginary partition rises, separating “I” from “not I” and “mine” from “not mine” and causing the most diverse spectrum of emotional experiences, you feel that everything surrounding you at that moment and into which you yourself dissolve is simply majestic wholeness. A wholeness filled with buildings, trees, pedestrians, cars and a boundless sky. A wholeness in which nothing is lacking and from which everything you possess entered your life, and in which everything you’ve already managed to lose has disappeared. You smile. You always believed that everything was brought into your life by your loved ones, your talents, your enormous or other people’s efforts, money, chance and timely encounters accompanied by their connections, and ultimately, some elderly gentleman with a long white beard sitting on a cloud somewhere. But one thing is to believe and fantasize, and another is to see with wide-open eyes that for all your loved ones, your beloved person, your talents, your money, your reserves of strength for enormous efforts, your unexpected connections and fortunate circumstances, the gratitude and respect should be directed precisely at him – the moment currently warmly embracing you. That he is the space that performs the functions of the gentleman with the long white beard, rewarding you for your inner smile toward him or punishing you for anger, envy, darkness, closeness and blindness. A space that doesn’t hide behind a white cloud somewhere in the distance, but is always much, much closer than the tip of your own nose.

Happy Knowledge Day!
